#30 spectrum_one

This week we are so happy to be able to visit our friend Darren Chilton from Canada who now lives in Japan.  Darren has a wonderful life that’s been filled with music since before he was born.
He comes from a musical family and began to play the guitar at an early age.  His high regard for music and sound has drawn him in to learning more.  His skills on all of the instruments he plays and his understanding of the technicalities of music are both impressive.  Sharing with us some of  insights he speaks on how music has changed him for the better and how he believes it affects every part of us.  We are sure you will enjoy our discussion with this very wonderful and kind soul and his featured piece he’s entitled “Natural World.”

FEATURE TUNE AND DISCUSSION TOPIC
NATURAL WORLD

The Healing of Sound and Music.

Scriptures from Interview
Psalm 33:6
“6 By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, And by the breath of His mouth all their host.” (NASB)
Sound affects us, even the sound of the breath and the word of the Lord which created everything!

Psalm 34:12-13
“12 What man is he that desires life and loves many days that he may see good?  13 Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking guile.”  (KJV)
Even the words from our mouth can bring good things.

Psalm 69:34
“34 Let heaven and earth praise Him, The seas and everything that moves in them.(NASB)
Not only did God create the world out of the breath and word / sound of His mouth, but all that He created He made to praise Him.

Psalm 118:21
“21 I shall give thanks to You, for You have answered me, And You have become my salvation.” (NASB)
We thank God because He hears the sound of our voice when we call and He saves us.

Song of Solomon 1:1-2
“1 The Song of songs, which is Solomon's.  Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth; For thy love is better than wine.” (ASV)
Music and song and good words are so important to God.  There’s even a book of the bible named after a song.

Psalm 140:3
“3 They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders' poison is under their lips. Selah.” (KJV)
For every positive there is a negative.  Words and sound can also be damaging and have ill intentions.

Psalm 32:7
“7 You are a hiding place for me; You, Lord, preserve me from trouble, You surround me with songs and shouts of deliverance. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!” (AMP)
These are good sounds and good words to come out of us!  Words of confident faith in our God who delivers us!  Pause and calmly think about that!  :)

Colossians 3:15-16
“5 And let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds, in that peaceful state] to which as [members of Christ’s] one body you were also called [to live]. And be thankful (appreciative), [giving praise to God always].
16 Let the word [spoken by] Christ (the Messiah) have its home [in your hearts and minds] and dwell in you in [all its] richness, as you teach and admonish and train one another in all insight and intelligence and wisdom [in spiritual things, and as you sing] psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, making melody to God with [His] grace in your hearts.” (AMP)
Let the peace of Christ rule in you – making songs and melodies to God in your heart!

Psalm 89:15
“15 Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O Lord, in the light of thy countenance.” (KJV)
God smiles on those who know His voice and follow Him!  :)

Romans 10:17-18
“17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. 18 But I say, Have they not heard? Yes surely, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.” (KJV)
All creation speaks of God and praises Him!  And our faith grows as we listen to His Word!

1 Corinthians 15:52
“52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.” (KJV)
Now talk about a healing sound!  We shall be changed in an instant and the dead in Christ shall rise! A sound still to come!
