What a lovely conversation we had with our special guest, David O’Connell coming to us from Derby, Britain.
Like the Lone Ranger & Tonto we were spoiling for a fight,
Looking to set everything right,
Everything was easy, everyhting was black and white -
We knew who to help and we knew who to smite,
But in the very moment of our victory,
We found out that the evil was in you and me.
Well Tonto turned around and he said, 'Kimo Sabe,
what can we do to make the people happy?'
The ranger seemd confused he just threw down his gun,
'If the evil is inside us we got no place to run.
Cos in the very moment of our victory,
WSE found out that the evil was in you and me.'
Just then a masked stranger limped into that place,
He had dust on his jacket, he had blood on his face,
He said, 'I've been defeated, so I know how to win.
Come and follow me and I will drive out your sin.'
The ranger said, 'Stranger, what's the face behind your mask?'
He said, 'If you were holy you would have no need to ask.'
David has an interesting background involving both music and radio and is a thoughtful songwriter now for many years. His featured tune today brings in thoughts from several areas as he talks about the good and bad within all of us. David says he was prompted to write this song when he had thoughts and feelings about an event that happened in our world. He realized that we all have to look within ourselves and see the truth. We hope you will tune in for this wonderful conversation with David and listen up and think as we discuss the most interesting lyrics of his tune, “The Lone Ranger & Tonto.”

The
Conflict of Two Natures
14 For we know that the Law is spiritual, but I am of flesh, sold [m]into bondage to sin.15 For what I am doing, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate. 16 But if I do the very thing I do not want to do, I agree with the Law, confessing that the Law is good. 17 So now, no longer am I the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me. 18 For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not. 19 For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want. 20 But if I am doing the very thing I do not want, I am no longer the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me.
21 I find then the [n]principle that evil is present in me, the one who wants to do good.22 For I joyfully concur with the law of God [o]in the inner man, 23 but I see a different law in[p]the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner [q]of the law of sin which is in my members. 24 Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from [r]the body of this death? 25 Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin.
God is the creator. He has even established all of the laws of
nature that we know. We often do things
we don’t want to do and we don’t know why.
It is because we have conflicting nature inside of us. Even the Christian who is born again still
has to make decisions on a daily basis to do what is right. When we falter and fall it is because of the
sinful nature inside of us. We are only
saved from this wretchedness by Jesus!
Proverbs
13:14
The teaching of the wise is a fountain of
life, to turn aside from the snares of death.
We need the word of
God and His Spirit to teach us and lead us and spare us from the death of our
souls
Proverbs
13:17
A
wicked messenger falls into adversity, but a faithful envoy brings healing.
Those who bring us
words of life are faithful envoys.
Psalms
42:5
Why are
you in despair, O my soul? And why have
you become disturbed within me? Hope in
God, for I shall again praise Him, For the help of His presence.
When we realize who
we really are, that we are not all good but a mixture is inside of us then this
may bring us despair. Stop looking at
ourselves and turn to God! Turn our thoughts
to God and know and believe that He will deliver us and He loves us even now!
Luke
11:27b
blessed rather are those who hear the word
of God and keep it.
Earlier in the text
there was a woman talking about Mary when she said, “blessed is the womb that
bore you.” But Jesus explained its not
who we are in the flesh, or if we came from this or that family…it’s about
keeping God’s word. When we keep God’s
word then we are blessed.
