#25 Collecting Pool

Our world is full of contrasts, including the biggest contrast between good and evil, love and hate.
Dan speaks of the love parents have for their children and how we always remain innocent in the eyes of our fathers and mothers.  His was deeply moved by tragic events in the news that prompted him to write this tune and the words and imagery he used made for a great discussion with us!  Even in the midst of the most terrible circumstances there is a ray of hope.  We hope you will tune in and listen to the thoughtful discussion we shared with Dan and his moving piece entitled, “LAMB.”

Lead Scripture:
John 10:10
“10 The thief comes only to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
We have an enemy of our lives and our souls.  We also have One who will rescue us and save our souls when we call upon Him.

LYRICS
LAMB

Music and Lyrics Dan D'Ambrosia ©2012
Lead and Backrground Vocals: Dan D
Background Vocals: Glen Washington

I can hardly breathe
My heart is hurting bad
Exhausted from the news
A wolf slaughtered one more lamb

(Chorus)
Precious is the spark of life
It fills our lives with love
Heaven has our share
Soft is the song of the Mourning dove
I don't pretend to know
What moves or motivates a predator
All that matters most
Is that your here....alive

Listen hard my little lamb
I know it's difficult to understand
Even by the light of day
The wolf will take you by the hand
He'll steal your breath away
And eat you up, he'll eat you up
And discard your precious bones
Heaven will have one more come home

Scriptures from Interview
John 10:1-18
“1 Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbs up some other way, he is a thief and a robber. 2 But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When he puts forth all his own, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5 A stranger they simply will not follow, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers.” 6 This figure of speech Jesus spoke to them, but they did not understand what those things were which He had been saying to them.
7 So Jesus said to them again, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. 8 All who came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen them. 9 I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
11 “I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. 12 He who is a hired hand, and not a shepherd, who is not the owner of the sheep, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them.13 He flees because he is a hired hand and is not concerned about the sheep. 14 I am the good shepherd, and I know My own and My own know Me, 15 even as the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. 16 I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will hear My voice; and they will become one flock with one shepherd. 17 For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life so that I may take it again. 18 No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This commandment I received from My Father.” (NASB)
Jesus tells us that there is an enemy out there who seeks to harm us.  This enemy wants to not only kill our bodies but wants to take our souls.  Jesus wants us to believe and receive what he has done for us and follow Him to save our souls.

Wolf:
Jeremiah 5:5
…a wolf from the desert will pounce on them…

Ezekiel 22:26
Your leaders are like wolves, who tear apart their victims. They actually destroy people’s lives for profit! 28And your prophets announce false visions and speak false messages. They say, ‘My message is from the Sovereign Lord,’ when the Lord hasn’t spoken a single word to them. They repair cracked walls with whitewash! 29Even common people oppress the poor, rob the needy, and deprive foreigners of justice.

Acts 20:28
I know full well that false teachers, like vicious wolves, will come in among you after I leave, not sparing the flock.

Matthew 7:15
“Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep, but are really wolves that will tear you apart.
These scriptures mentioned above tells us that one wolf (devil) will not come to hunt the lambs (us) in this world, but such evil will be there acting as sheep among us.

The Lamb:
 Exodus 29:38
 This is what you are to offer on the altar. Offer two one-year-old lambs each day, 39one in the morning and the other in the evening.

John 1:29
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look! There is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

Revelation 7:9
After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb.

Revelation 13:7
And all the people who belong to this world worshiped the beast. They are the ones whose names were not written in the Book of Life, which belongs to the Lamb who was killed before the world was made.
Names written in the book of life means to be set apart for God and made pure. Christ promises future honor and eternal life to those who stand firm in their faith. The names of all believers are registered in the Book of Life. This book symbolizes God’s knowledge of who belongs to him. All such people are guaranteed a listing in the Book of Life and are introduced to the hosts of heaven as belonging to Christ.

Our life
Genesis 2:7
“7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” (KJV)

Job 33:4
“4 The spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.” (KJV)

Acts 17:24-26
“24 The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands; 25 nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things;26 and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation” (NASB)
 The life we are given is precious and from God.  The enemy is against God and against us and has no regard for the precious gift of life He has given us.

Do not Fear
John 14:1-4
“1 Let not your heart be troubled: you believe in God, believe also in me.
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there you may be also.And where I go you know, and the way you know.”  (KJV)
Jesus is The Way.  He wants us not to be afraid but instead trust in Him.  We receive the peace of God that surpasses all understanding within us when trust in Jesus.

John 14:27
 27 Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.” (NASB)
 The peace of God that Jesus gives us when we trust in Him and receive the work that He has done takes away our fears.  The world does not understand this peace.  It come only from Jesus when we trust Him.

Jesus is the Good Shepherd
Psalm 23
1 The Lord is my shepherd,
I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside quiet waters.
He restores my soul;
He guides me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I fear no evil, for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You have anointed my head with oil;
My cup overflows.
Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life,
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Jesus is the Good Shepherd.  We can trust Him with our souls and our very lives.
