#17 Jonny Cooke

Inspiration for a song can come at any time in our lives, even starting on a morning when we aren’t feeling so good.
There is a gift that is given inside of us, a gift that is there for us to touch if we so dare to touch it.  Looking out of our window on the morning sun, hearing the sound of birds singing in the trees, these things make a stirring inside of us and give us feeling that there is yet hope in this world and this life.  There may be troubles in the world around us, but in the middle of all the chaos grows the perfect rose.  We talked with Jonny Cooke, who experienced this feeling the day he wrote his song, “The World We Know.”

Lead Scripture:
Song of Solomon 2:10-12
“10 The “My beloved responded and said to me, ‘Arise, my darling, my beautiful one,
And come along. 11 ‘For behold, the winter is past, The rain is over and gone. 12 ‘The flowers have already appeared in the land; The time of the singing of birds has come,
And the voice of the turtledove has been heard in our land.”
Let slow down, take some time and listen to the birds singing. Let us look upon the beauty of creation and see God’s goodness everywhere.  He lets the rain fall for us to drink and causes the flowers to grow even in the midst of turmoil on this earth. Evidence of God is all around us.

LYRICS
THE WORLD WE KNOW

Can you hear the morning bird
She sings so nicely
It's alright , it's the world we know

Can you feel the morning sun

She burns so brightly
It's alright , it's the world we know

I can feel the temperature rise

It's time we go
I can see lightning strike
It's bright you know
I can feel the thunder roar
It's the world we know

Close your eyes and drift away

Your eyes so tight your feeling right
In a world we know

Imagine life in a magical place

Mystery lies beyond our eyes
In a world we know

I can feel the temperature rise

It's time we go
I can see lightning strike
It's bright you know
I can hear the thunder roar
It's the world we know
The world we know

Scriptures from Interview
Psalm 130:6
“6 My soul waits for the Lord, More than the watchmen for the morning;
Indeed, more than they who wait for the morning.”
Every morning we feel the gift of God for a new day to start our lives.  Indeed we often wait for the better feelings of a new day, but our souls long even more for the Lord.  Do we heed the call of our soul to God?  Are we listening to our very hearts cry?

Romans 10:13
“13 Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
I am a “whosoever” and so are you, so call on his name, Jesus.

Daniel 12:3
“3 Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.”
There is light on this earth that shines brighter than the sun, and it shines through the darkness of our hearts and shows us hope.  This light is the love of God through Jesus.
Jesus burned for us like the sun, so we all can shine like a star or moon from His light.

Psalm 135:5-7
5 “I know that the LORD is great, that our Lord is greater than all gods.  6 The LORD does whatever pleases him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths.7 He makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth; he sends lightning with the rain and brings out the wind from his storehouses.”
Yes, God created the heavens and the earth, and he made it so that we have sun and rain and even wind and thunder and lightening.  His wonderful works are seen and his power is felt in all of creation.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-2
“1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: 2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted….”
The scripture says it; there is a time for every purpose under heaven.

Luke 21:27-28
“27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draws near.”

There is a time that is drawing near, the time when Jesus will return.  We are not to fear but instead to lift up our heads and look unto Jesus for only he will save us when we call upon his name.

Revelation 10:6
“6 And swore by him that lives for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that are in it, and the earth, and the things that are in it, and the sea, and the things which are in it, that there should be time no longer:.”
God is not bound by time.  We cannot understand that.  Neither can we fathom the idea that one day there will be no more time.

Revelation 21:16-27
“16 The city was laid out like a square, as long as it was wide. ….18 The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass. 19 The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth sardonyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. 21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of pure gold, like transparent glass.

22 I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. 24 The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. 25 On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. 26 The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. 27 Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
Truly this is only the beginning of a description of a heaven.  Stories we’ve heard tell us that there are more colors and more sounds than we have ever seen or heard before….in a world we know inside our souls that truly exists.
