#62 Rudi Lockefeir

Music and writing songs has been a part of the very interesting life of Rudi Lockefeir since he was a youngster at the age of 13.
Today we were so privileged to have Rudi join us as our special guest. Rudi told us some of the most interesting stories from his own life, some sounding just like something out of a movie. We had a lot of discussion about home and going back to a place we used to know as home, and why we leave a place we know as home. Rudi says he’s always philosophized about life in his thoughts and in his lyrics. His song today brought out a lot of stories and thoughts from his life. We know you will enjoy our visit with Rudi as much as we did as we talked about his song, “Take me down to Georgia.”

Lead Scripture:
Psalm 116:1-2
I love the LORD, because he has heard my voice and my supplications. Because he has inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.
When we realize how God loves us and protects us cannot help but praise him.

LYRICS:
TAKE ME DOWN TO GEORGIA

I grew up in Georgia
We used to live in College Park
Our neighbors name was Dotty
Her two sons Gary and Mark
We all had dreams together, on Rugby Avenue
And when I moved to Holland
It broke my heart in two
They drove me to the airport and they, all said goodbye
I just starred out of the window, as tears filed my eyes
Now I know what Ray meant when he sang, Georgia on my mind.
I’m going back to Georgia. I’m going back in time.

So take me down to Georgia
And I will be alright. I’m going back to Georgia
I leave tomorrow night.
To the heart of Atlanta and the, home of the Braves.
So take me down to Georgia, far across the waves

I left in the summer but the, pain will never fade.
I haven’t seen my hometown sins 1968
I can see the Georgia Mountains and I
Feel those warm summer nights
I’m going back to Georgia I leave tomorrow night

They say I’ve got a brother but I’ve never seen his face
They took him from my mama when he was just a babe
She was devastated there was nothing she could do
I’m going down to Georgia; I’m going to bring him back to you.

Scriptures from Interview:
Psalm 24:1-2
The earth is the LORD's, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.
God is the creator.  He has even established all of the laws of nature that we know.

Proverbs 24:3
By wisdom a house is built and by understanding it is established.
It is a good thing to make and keep a home.

Psalms 116:9
Return O my soul, to your rest, for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.
We know where our rest comes from, our God, and we can always turn to him.  He is always there and where he is that is our true home.

Ephesians 1:4
His unchanging plan has always been to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ.
When we know the place we going, when we know we going back to our own home, when we know what it feels like to be there, when we know the joy we will have there, we cant wait to go back.

Ephesians 3:4
This was his plan from all eternity, and it has now been carried out through Christ Jesus our Lord.
We all do have dreams but life brings different turns we never thought of. That’s why we have a promise that this life is temporarily, a journey to the next life. where broken hearts will heal, tears will fade away.
