#52 RosesAreBlue

Coming to us from the London area, but not actually in London :)  is the beautiful Rose, known as Roses Are Blue on SoundCloud.
Her lovely personality is quite evident in her songs as well as in our interview with her! Rose’s lyrics took us to a surprising place where I had thought it was only about loving someone but she also wrote this with a double meaning and that comes out in our discussion with her.  She said her song writing is generally spontaneous but she did have something in mind when writing the words to this song.  Caught in the moment of singing and feeling she says that what this song is saying is that what ultimately matters is love.  We agree with her in that the greatest of all is love and we really enjoyed the conversation with Rose today and her song she’s entitled “Life is Love.”

Lead Scripture:
I Corinthians 13:13
13 But now faith, hope, love abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.
The greatest of all is love.

LYRICS:
LIFE IS LOVE

I'm not drowning in the rain
I'm not lost in the fog
I'm not burning in the sun
I'm not hearing anyone
When you break it all down
When you figure it out
Life isn't life
Life isn't time
Life is Love
Life is Love
Life is Love
What is life
What is time
I'm not calling your name
I'm not feeling any pain
Not wasting away
I'm so glad you stayed....

Scriptures from Interview:

1 John 4:9
By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He sent his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Deuteronomy 30:19-21b
19 I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants, 20 by loving the LORD your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding fast to Him; for this is your life and the length of your days, that you may live in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.”
Every day we make choices.  There is one big choice.  Choose life.  Which came first, life or love?  Can we as human beings even answer the question, what is love? Can you have life without love?  I don’t think so.

1 John 4:12
No one has seen God at any time; if we love one another, God abides in us, and His love is perfected in us.
Giving of our time and thoughts and prayer to others is part of loving others in a self- sacrificing love.

Song of Solomon 1:2
“May he kiss me with the kisses of his mouth!
For your love is better than wine.
Love is the greatest of all.

Zephaniah 3:17
“The Lord your God is in your midst,
A victorious warrior.
He will exult over you with joy,
He will be quiet in His love,
He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.
Love renews us!

Proverbs 12:28
In the way of righteousness is life,
And in its pathway there is no death.

Proverbs 8:35-36
35 “For he who finds me finds life
And obtains favor from the Lord.
36 “But he who sins against me injures himself;
All those who hate me love death.”

Jude 1:21
21 keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.

John 15:13
13 Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.

Galatians 2:20
20 I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

Revelation 12:11
11 And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death.

John 12:25
He who loves his life loses it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it to life eternal.

Matthew 10:39
He that finds his life shall lose it; and he that loses his life for my sake shall find it.
If all we are doing is seeking after our own fulfilment then we are really losing our life.  Not just in eternity because we didn’t love others, but we are losing it now because it is a lonely existence to try to get everything for yourself all the time.  But if you willingly lose your life by giving it up to help and love others then you will find true life.

1 Corinthians 13
If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant,5 does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, 6 does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8 Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part; 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away.11 When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known. 13 But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love. (NASB)
When you strip it all down, what remains is love.  Not self-centered love as the world loves.  Real love is giving of self.
