#04 Coed Flello

Our enjoyable visit with Coed Flello in Taunton, Britian gave us a unique look inside to his writing of stories through his music.
One such story we discussed here shows us again that all of us everywhere have similar experiences, good and bad.  It was a pleasure to be part of the interesting conversation with him as we discussed his thoughts on a particular subject that seems to affect us all even on opposite sides of the globe.  Coed’s unique way of expressing the thoughts in his heart and images in his mind through words and music come through here very well in his song, “Diamond Smiles.”

Lead Scripture:
Matthew 25:27b-28
27 Woe to you…hypocrites, who appear beautiful on the outside like white-washed tombs, but inwardly are full of dead men's bones, and all uncleanness. 28 Even so you also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but inwardly are full of hypocrisy and evil.
God is not happy with people who are self-righteous in their own eyes and who look down on and judge others.

LYRICS
DIAMOND SMILES

Why don’t you come and you can tell me,
just how it cuts above the rest.
In a million ways I can tell what you’re
gonna do, and it ain’t your best.
man, if all that you’re doing is all that you can.
‘Cause when you’re running around with your
cross and your crown, you still fail the test.
your line, the rhyme and the reason cut so
fine. But for all that you do you could wear
the other shoe and be another man.
from the dreams in his soul so far away.
When you’re holding back and it won’t come
back, on another day.
holes in your sins.
The innocence that sits inside your
diamond smiles.

Why don’t you come tell me young preacher
The path that you’re walking the break in
Is your brother the man who would walk away,
‘Cause the caution in the wind and the black

Scriptures from Interview
Matthew 23:12
12 “And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be humbled; and whosoever shall humble himself shall be exalted...
To raise ourselves above others is the wrong way to go and turns others away.  Instead we are instructed to be humble and walk in love.

Psalms 25:7
7 “Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: According to your lovingkindness remember thou me, For your goodness' sake, O Jehovah.
When we acknowledge and remember who we really are then we will ask God to forgive us and not condemn us.  We also will be more careful of judging others for their faults.

Psalm 25:8-9
8 “Good and upright is Jehovah: Therefore will he instruct sinners in the way.  The meek will he guide in justice; And the meek will he teach his way.”
God is good and he instructs us, he guides us, he teaches us.  He does not beat us in the head with rules, or push us.  He calls to us with love and his heart is to show us right.  :)

Luke 14:27
27 “Whoever does not bear his own cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.”
True, we are to “carry our cross” but it means we are to face the truth and do what is right no matter how difficult that may seem…but he also says:

Matthew 11:20-30
29 “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls.  30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Jesus promises to us that when we follow him that he will give rest to our souls.  Those who know Jesus this way know this is true.  There is rest in our souls inside of us that no circumstance or person can take away.

Proverbs 3:13-14
13 “Happy is the man that finds wisdom, And the man that gets understanding.
14 For the gaining of it is better than the gaining of silver, and the profit is better than fine gold.  15 She is more precious than rubies: And none of the things you can desire are to be compared unto her.

This is what our souls really desire, to be filled with peace and not fear, to find the wisdom and understanding from God which is better than all the riches and fame in the world.  Not thinking of oneself as superior, but instead forget thinking of yourself and seek God and his wisdom and know that peace that your soul really longs for.
